THE BASICS

What is this game about?
Fortis Cor is a private game for a few friends to play their characters in a world of their making.

Your character falls asleep, passes out or even dies in their world, and when they wake they find themselves in a whole other world. They're told that they've basically been asleep (or in a coma) for years and have finally woken up. The implication being that the world they knew was just a dream, and this new world is their original world, the one in which they were born. From there you get to enjoy this new world and strange things that happen within it.

What is the plot?
As of right now there is no plot! This is a game that will be formed around the characters and grow with time. There will be player run plots and, perhaps, something bigger behind the scenes. But as the game starts the emphasis will be on Slice of Life shenanigans with some silliness thrown in. Your character might have questions... how long were they 'supposedly' asleep for? Where is everyone else? If they were born in this world, where are their family? Just what is going on? There may be answers to those questions, but whether they are the right answers or not remain to be seen.

The game itself will be heavily player driven with the mods helping it along the way. The players will shape the world, for good or bad, it's really up to what the players and their characters decide to do with their time.

Is this a private game?
This is a private game for very private people.

How do invitations work?
Only those very private people can offer up invites. If you are in the game then you are allowed to invite one other person. Exceptions can be made at the mods' discretion. Please ask us if you have any questions or would like to request an additional invite. After all, this policy is only in place to control growth.

Is there an age restriction?
Applicants must be 18+ due to the potential for adult themes within this game.

Is there an age limit for characters?
Not really? Just don't be problematic about it and we're all good.

Is smut allowed here?
Yes, smut is allowed but we are not a sex game. We're just all adults here and adults will do adult things.

How many characters can I play?
You are welcome to play as many characters as you think you can handle. But no more than 10. We have to set the limit somewhere.

What kinds of characters can be apped?
We allow:

Will my character's powers be nerfed?
Actually... they won't be. But we do ask that you don't break the world. If you happen to have a character who has the ability to actually do that, and then tries to break the world, they will find themselves regretting that decision very quickly!

How are non-human characters handled?
The same way human characters are handled. There is very little difference in our opinion. The choice is yours whether you would like them to remain the way they were in their 'other world' or give them a brand new human body to experience.

What happens during hiatus or drop?
That really depends on you. At least where hiatus applies. Your character can be carrying on as normal or, if you could like, they could have fallen back asleep and have been taken to Fortis Hospital for the duration of your hiatus.
With drops, characters will be taken back to Fortis Hospital and will not exit the hospital until such time as that character is picked up again, possibly without any memories of the last time they were active in the world.

What about canon-updates?
Much like hiatus, characters will fall asleep and be taken to Fortis Hospital where they will spend five days. On the fifth day they will leave with their new canon memories. If the canon update includes the character undergoing physical changes, it is up to you, the player, to decide if you would like them to have those changes or not.

Are dead characters allowed? What about sick or injured?
Given the premise of Fortis Cor, if your character died before arriving, was sick or hurt, when they wake up at Fortis Hospital they will find themselves completely healed from all injuries. And, even more surprising, very much alive. Now ask me what happens if you're playing a vampire?

Okay, what happens if my character is a vampire?
They're now alive! But it's your choice whether you want them to still need blood to survive or just have them enjoy it for funsies. It's also your choice if you would like them to be sensitive to the sun or to be able to walk around like a normal person. It will not kill them, however. Because why would the sun be able to kill a living person?

GAMEPLAY

What is the AC like?
AC is a simple check in. While we would really like it if you were active within the game, we don't require you to prove it. All we ask is that by the 1st of the month you leave a comment to tell us you are still here! There will be reminders a week before the 1st.

Is there bonus AC?
There is. Or there will be. Once the mods get off their butts and work it out.

Does the game have a network?
Sure does! fortiscor_network is the community you're looking for.
For characters to access this IC, they will all have phones or tablets to use. It's really that simple! While some of the world looks like it was pulled directly from a fantasy world, we're not Neanderthals!

How often do events happen?
Events will happen bi-monthly. Every two months there will be an event, between the 10th and 15th.

Are events mandatory?
Of course they're not! It would be really great if you did get involved but you're more than welcome to go about and do your own thing.

Will there be memes?
We sure do! fortiscor_meme. They will happen randomly, probably during lulls in activity or during holidays relevant to the meme. Or just for fun!

IC INFO

How did everyone get here?
At some point your character will have closed their eyes. Whether it was at the end of the day and they have gone to sleep, or the middle of the day and they're having a nap. Maybe they have been knocked out by a well aimed punch? Or maybe they are only a second or two from breathing their last. Either way, they have closed their eyes and are now in that dream-like state where you almost feel like you are floating.

Your body jolts. And when your eyes snap open, you're laying in a hospital bed with a pretty, smiling nurse leaning over you.

She will tell your character that she is glad they're finally awake and will explain that they have been asleep for a while, sometimes a very long time. There was an 'incident' among the people of this world and many dozens (thousands? Millions?) of people suddenly fell into deep sleeps. They were brought to the hospital to be cared for.

Are they dreaming?
Technically, yes. But the characters will be told that they have just woken up. None should know that they are dreaming yet, some might even believe that this is heaven, the afterlife or in extreme cases, purgatory. Some who are used to other worlds might just mistrust what is said and believe they've just been taken to another world again.

What do characters have on them when they arrive?
When they wake up they'll wake in a hospital bed wearing a hospital gown. But at the bottom of the bed they will find whatever items you would like to bring with your character.
Your character can have up to five items with them. A set of clothes are considered one item. Weapons and magical items are allowed.

Once your character is ready to leave the hospital they will be able to take their things. They will also be given a phone/tablet of unknown make and/or model and a key.

What happens if my character doesn't want to leave the hospital?
After three days your character will be escorted out of the building whether they want to or not, with the reasoning that they need the bed for other patients. Possible insurance issues? A lack of money or funding. Any number of reasons, but they will get you out by the third day at the latest. Even if that means calling security and having you bodily lifted and thrown out the door!

Will my character's familiar/pet/companion come with them?
Yes, if you would like them to then when your character leaves the hospital they will find their companion wandering the street outside or even sat outside of the doors waiting.

We do ask that your pets or companions not be massive creatures, if they are please shrink them down to at least the size of a small pony or large dog. If your character was a Pokémon trainer, then you will be allowed one Pokémon, with the potential to regain others with AC rewards.

What condition is my character in when they arrive?
As good as new!

If your character was hurt, both minor and mortally, those wounds will be all healed up. Sickness, too. They'll wake up in this world as if everything from before had been a dream. So the damage they had sustained would have been to their 'dream self', and their real bodies would be completely unharmed.

Psychologically? Well, that's a little harder to heal...

What is... this thing about willpower?
As this world is just a dream, there is an underlying power within the dreamworld. Those with a strong power of will can often find themselves able to change or influence the world around them. As with most things, your characters may brush it off as coincidence at first. Good or bad luck. A hint of strangeness in a strange world. Maybe one day they feel sad and it immediately starts to rain, or they are thinking about an old tree they used to climb as a child and later find a tree that looks 'just like' the tree of their memories.

As characters learn more about the world and what they can do to influence this power, maybe they will be able to so a little more...?

The biggest effect this will have on characters are potential AC bonus rewards, bringing things from home.

At current, the 'Top Dog' with the strongest will power and the greatest pull within the world is one Aizen Sousuke. And sometimes he gets bored...

Does my character need a job?
Not to start with, no. Each character will arrive with some money in the bank to get them started. Each month for a year they will be given enough money to keep them afloat. After that is when they will need a job.
That isn't to say that your character can't find a job or even start their own business if they would like to. If your character sees an opening or need that isn't being met and you feel they can meet that need, then we fully encourage characters to explore their job prospects.

What about currency?
Of course you exchange currency for goods and services! However there is no physical currency. You will be able to purchase items with the use of your phone and a money app upon it. It's as easy as a simple scan. There is an option for trade or bartering, should you have goods that you have made or grown that you would like to sell.

Where will my character live?
The towns name is Williamsburg. It's a small town with a mishmash of buildings in all different styles, from wooden shacks to fancy manors, large brick and mortar homes and even futuristic homes. All these are crammed together in this small town. Main Street is where you will find all your character needs in terms of shops. And if there isn't a business there that your character believes should be, they're more than welcome to start one!

There are many empty houses. The key you have been given is a strange one. Gold in colour, at first. If you happen to use it on a house that is occupied, the key won't work. But if you use it to open the door of an empty house, the key will change to fit that lock, sometimes even changing colour. That is now your house, your house key and no one else can get into that house without a copy of the key in your possession.

Can my character get pregnant/have kids?
It isn't easy, but yes, if you would like your character to have a child then we welcome that here. As we're a private game we see nothing wrong in exploring all the Slice-of-Life shenanigans that we can. This includes children, should things go that way with characters.

Can my character die?
They can indeed. It is the players choice if they would like it to be permanent or for their character to be taken to the hospital and within a week they will be released alive and relatively well. Again, we will leave it up to the player if there is any permanent physical or psychological damage done to their character, or if they have no memory of what happened at all.
